HS.002 — MAÏ-LINH
Hi Maï-Linh! To start, can you present yourself in a few words?
Hay yooo,
I'm Maï-Linh - whose name definitely not "Mimi" ; Macadam and Rinse France resident.
I proudly created the mix series called CTW Podcasts which is now over 10 years, and which has grown with me, paralleling all the knowledge I've gleaned over the last decade, a project committed to discovering collectors and sharing their musical treasures, without pretension or frontiers.
When was the mix recorded?
When you suggested some months ago to join this new podcast series, I was more than happy to do so, especially as it followed two very distinct lovely gig proposals: a listening set at the festival (July 4th-6th,) and, a week later, the peak-time opportunity at the Trabendo on the occasion of the HORS-SOL Weekender. So I grasped the energy of the in-between-the-two-events to record this one hour mix, at home.
What was the purpose and the idea behind this mix ?
As far as I'm concerned, HORS-SOL embodies a multi-faceted, but above all deep and powerfully layered music.
For this mix, my first intentions were to go into 90s rave, progressive house ground that was somewhat moving. But I took so much pleasure in building a listening set during HORS-SOL Festival, a deep mix of emotions - I was tempted to dangle a bit of the experience.
Rather psychorigid when it comes to getting the hips swinging, I have a somewhat distinct approach in terms of listening music, which reveals my vast musical versatility, that is to say, there are so many hidden gems to be discovered - if not the best thing about digging: the never-ending process.
I blend genres and styles, regardless of their year of production or their bpm, for what matters is the ripple I seek to bring the listener in my "emo side", a kind of heads or tails, the joyful or the emotive Maï-Linh's sides.
